One of the best things about close up magic is that it's flexible enough to fit into a wide range of events. For large groups, I mix with guests, sharing magic with them either at their table or as they get a drink from the bar. An event case study for Staffordshire
Magicians measure their success in different ways. For some it's about the number of reviews they can gather, others try to assess the reaction of the audience. Those are good measurements. For me though one of the strongest signals I’m doing well is when I am recommended to others or hired again by the same person or company.
One Staffordshire company has hired me to perform close up magic for their Christmas party entertainment for the past seven years running. (Well, excluding "the pandemic years!") Staff have also recommended me for other private events.
I always look forward to putting their date in my calendar. and when the event rolls around, it feels like catching up with old friends. My magic is already very relaxed and conversational. Occasionally, I'll even use this party as my chance to show something I've never before performed. And that exclusivity makes them feel really special!

Part of the fun of this event is finding the new colleagues, who staff will usually point about by saying, "Show [Joe] that one where the card / coin / tiger appears!"
